Bibbulmun Overnight - PHDC to Helena Return (Members Only)

Overnight Hike from Perth Hill Discovery Centre to Helena Campsite and return (Members only). Saturday Morning to Sunday Afternoon. Approximately 24km total over 2 days. Amazing vista from the Helena Shelter and Amazing Sunrise. Real hiking experience. Drop toilet. Water available at camp - Water needs to be either filtered or treated with chemical/by boiling to be safe for drinking. Parents are responsible for their children at all times. Walk is graded as 'Difficult' due to uneven ground and steep sections. Helena Campsite is 'new' and very comfortable.  Appropriate gear is required for this walk. Please refer Members' Only resource page of the web site for more guidance. The nighttime temperature may be low. Members may be refused participation if the safety of the group or the participant is compromised by inappropriate equipment. I have a PLB for emergency use, for the safety of the group. Interested members should familiarise themselves with The Risk Management Policy published on the WAFBC website and ensure the safety of your family at all times. We are going into remote environemnt and medical evacuation is usually hours away. Potential risks (which may lead to life-threatening event) on this walk for adults and children are, (1) Snake bite, (2) Thermal burns at fire-pit, (3) Gasto-Intestinal upset from oro-feacal contamination, (4) Musculo-skeletal injuries, (5) Dehydration, (6) Falls, (7) Insect bites, (8) Eye injuries from sticks or plants, and (9) Getting lost in the wilderness.     Assemble Point: Perth Hill Discovery Centre Carpark 15mins before departure time. Mobile coverage is unreliable for much of the Bibbulmum Track, so we will not be waiting long if you are late to the assembly point as there is no way of determining if you are coming or not.  There is no Mobile service at Helena campsite for Optus/Vodafone, weak for Telstra (Unsure about Telstra). PHDC should be a reasonable safe to park your car overnight.  Registration is necessary, this event may be cancelled if there is no registered participants.    Hiking equipment must include these: Suitable attire, sturdy shoes and other personal protection equipment. Water (Minimum 2L per person at departure). Food (Lunch, Dinner, breakfast and snacks) Hiking backpack. Warm sleeping gear  - Sleeping bag and mattress. Tent (The shelter may be busy and space may not be available). Personal Hygiene and toilet paper. Basic First Aid kit. Please keep total pack weight below 10-12kg, including water. Children should not carry more than 10% of their body weight.  There may be option for a day walk, or short overnight walk (eg PHDC to Ball Creek, or PHDC to Mundaring Weir etc) if another family is willing to lead. Bibbulmun Track OVERLIGHT - Camel Farm to Hewitt's Hill Return 6.5km This is a good introduction to overnight hiking for families wishing to try a short overnight hike with little ones. We will walk toward the shelter in the afternoon and return the next morning. Non-Members are welcome ($15 per person). Approximately 3.5km each way. Parents are responsible for their children at all times. Walk is graded as 'Moderate'. There may be some steep sections.  Appropriate gear is required for this walk.  Assemble Point: Camel Farm Carpark, 15mins before departure time. May Fourth Portagabra Track Walk, Mundaring (New Member Intro Walk)

Portagabra Track, Mundaring This is a perfect introductory walk for families interested in joining WAFBC.  The Portagabra Track takes walkers though some beautiful jarrah forest, winding its way past granite outcrops and majestic grass trees, with stunning views of the Helena Valley River and Mundaring Weir. The walk features beautiful wildflowers between August and November and is suitable for all skill levels. The trail begins at the red/white trailhead sign in Fred Jacoby Park and then heads underneath the historic Mundaring to Kalgoorlie pipeline and into the forest. Please note dogs are not allowed on the trail as it's in a national park. May the Fourth be with you, bring you favourite Star Wars memorabilia on the walk! Distance is 3.5 km, About 1 hour Meet at the start of the walk where you walk under the pipe, at Fred Jacoby Park, Hampel Road, Mundaring, 48 min (40.4 km) via National Highway 94. Please be punctual as we will not wait no more than 15mins. Difficulty - Moderate level of fitness and experience required. 
Bush Walk: Grade 3 - Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may have short steep hill sections a rough surface and many steps. Walks up to 20km. Easter Weekend camp at Nambung Station

Members only camp. Easter weekend. Booking required asap. See below info about Nambung station. We are a 40-minute drive to the nearest towns of Cervantes and Jurien Bay, so you need to bring all your food and drink with you. The campground has a camp kitchen with BBQ, microwave, kettle, tables & chairs, a sink with hot & cold water. Showers and toilets. Powered site: $45 up to 2 adults per night.  Unpowered site: $35 up to 2 adults per night. $15 per extra adult per night.   $5 per night for children 4 – 16. Both powered & unpowered. Our farm painted desert tour leaves at 7.30 in the morning, weather permitting. The early start is preferable, to beat the heat and wind and takes approximately 2 hours. You will be taken through the farm in a buggy.  On arrival you will hop out and walk up onto sand dunes. As you walk around you will see pinnacles amongst the sand dunes, some are getting buried, and some are reappearing due to the moving sand.  This experience is exclusive to people staying at Nambung Station Stay. Each Come & Try session includes bow hire, instruction and a 10-target course. Sessions run for one and a half hours but if you are having too much fun you are able to reshoot the course.  Each Come ‘N’ Try session costs $25 for children (U18) and $30 for adults! Coogee Maritime Trail The trails not only provide access to our beautiful marine life, but also offer a unique opportunity to educate and build awareness about out significant maritime history and archaeology. Located only 25 metres from the shore, the dive and snorkel trail begin at the Omeo shipwreck and includes: Underwater access to the Omeo shipwreck Underwater art gallery Artificial reef. The underwater trail begins in shallow water while its western-most extent reaches a maximum depth of 7 metres. Most of the trail is around 2.5 to 5 metres deep, making it suitable for snorkelers and novice divers.  New to snorkeling, or never been to the Coogee Maritime Trail before? Try these simple tips for a good time! Before you come: Check the conditions – including weather, wind and currents as these can impact your experience Take a flotation device – pool noodles, bodyboards and kickboards can help you stay afloat and avoid accidentally resting on the wreck There is limited parking so make sure you carpool, walk, or ride a bike Have a plan for your valuables.  When you arrive:  Enter via stairs or along the beach  Meet at stairs. Torbay Beach Camp 2024 (Members Only)
 Torbay Beach Camp at Camp Kennedy is the Club's premier annual event on the south coast west of Albany, https://campkennedy.org!
 It is an absolute beachfront holiday. Past activities at the camp have included Talent Show evening, walks, swimming, canoeing, boogie boarding, fishing, coffee drinking at local cafe, etc. As in previous years, the site is deemed alcohol and smoking free.
 Families stay in separate 'hut'. The huts have a bed base and mattress but little else – they are really basic. You will have the use of the shared outdoor kitchen/BBQ area, dish washing area with running water, fridge and freezers and the ablution blocks. There is also a fee-paying washing machine and clothes line for laundry. The dining hall has tables and benches. You will need to provide your own cooking pots and serving plates and utensils.
 For 2024, the indicative prices are:     •    Dorms is $20/n for Adult and $15/n for Children.
     •    Camping at unpowered site is $14/n for Adult and $12/n for Children.
     •    Powered site is $17/n for Adult and $14/n for Children. There are only two sites.
     •    Please book directly with Camp Kennedy: Admin@campkennedy.org
     •    Then register your intention here with WAFBC so we know who is going.
     •    Please pay when you arrive at Torbay to the Camp Manager. Unsure if EFTPOS is availble. ***Interested families needs to book directly with the Camp Manager. please book early to avoid disappointment! *** The accommodation will be given on a first come first serve basis. Unlike previous years, we no longer have exclusive use of the entire camp ground. Check-in time is 3.00pm and check-out time is 11.00am.
Each family may be given a cleaning rooster for cleaning bathroom, dining hall etc.

 Each family is encouraged to participate in the Talent Show concert night, usually on the last night of the camp.  Activity-based gear e.g. hiking, swimming, fishing etc.
 Each family is encouraged to host a group based activity, such as going to the beach or coffee at Cozy Corner.
 Please write your actvity on the whiteboard on arrival. I will organise an Overnight hike to a Bibulmum shelter and return the next morning, if there are interest.

Christmas Picnic at Matilda Bay

Christmas Picnic at Matilda Bay, Crawley. All Welcome Near the 2 jetties and next to the Bayside Kitchen. All are welcome to join us for a picnic by the Maltida Bay/Swan River with a possible visit by Father Christmas (To be confirmed). The kids can play, swim, canoe/kayak or sail if they wish, while the adults relax and chat on the beach or maybe a game of frisbee. You can arrive by bike if you wish. It will be in the afternoon this year but always a pleasant way to spend the best part of a day under the shade of the peppermints. There is a cafe nearby for those wanting a coffee or ice cream. Also, please bring something approximately $5-10 (eg, lolly stockings or wrapped gift. Labelled with your child's name) for Father Christmas to give to your child. Time: 3pm onwards Venue: Matilda Bay, near Bayside Kitchen Cost: Free, BYO everything. Important information: Parents are responsible for their children. The Camel Lake Trail, located within Bold Park is short loop through coastal bushland boasting spectacular views of both the coastline and city.
